Fast paced college plan to get your AA degree with as high a GPA as possible.
This plan is designed around four goals:
- use as many CLEP exams as possible,
- make CLEP and Valencia coursework help with BASBOL requirements,
- keep the Valencia class load as light as possible, and
- finish the A.A. in a way that cleanly feeds into the BASBOL program.
Bottom-Line Strategy
The strongest version of this plan uses 42 CLEP credits and only
18 Valencia classroom credits. That keeps the in-person or online course
load relatively light while still leaving enough Valencia residency credits for the A.A.
CLEP Category: 42 Credits
These CLEP exams are the most efficient choices because they either satisfy A.A. general
education requirements, count toward elective space, or help with lower-division business
preparation for BASBOL.
- College Composition - 6 credits
- American Government - 3 credits
- Humanities - 3 credits
- College Algebra - 3 credits
- College Mathematics - 3 credits
- Biology - 3 credits
- Introductory Psychology - 3 credits
- Introductory Sociology - 3 credits
- Principles of Macroeconomics - 3 credits
- Principles of Microeconomics - 3 credits
- Principles of Management - 3 credits
- Principles of Marketing - 3 credits
- Introductory Business Law - 3 credits
Notes
If you can, it's better to take 2 years of a foreign language in high school to satisfy the foreign language requirement, you may even be able to take CLEP exams in high school for free. If you expect an A in a subject like English, you should take the class rather than CLEP.
Class Coursework Category: 18 Credits
The College side can be trimmed to just six
3-credit classes. The goal here is to choose lighter, broadly useful courses and avoid
unnecessary difficulty where possible.
- SPC 1017 Interpersonal Communication - 3 credits
- CGS 2100C Computer Fundamentals and Applications - 3 credits
- GEB 1011 Introduction to Business - 3 credits
- SLS 1122 New Student Experience - 3 credits
- Easy Elective - 3 credits
- Easy Elective - 3 credits
Why These Valencia Classes Make Sense
-
SPC 1017 fills the oral communication requirement in a relatively manageable way.
-
CGS 2100C is smart to take because Valencia lists it as one of the computer courses
required for BASBOL students entering with an A.A.
-
GEB 1011 is business-related and useful without usually being one of the more punishing courses.
-
SLS 1122 is often one of the lighter courses available and helps keep the schedule gentle.
-
The two remaining electives should be chosen for ease, flexibility, and low stress rather than difficulty.
Recommended Pacing
To keep the course load light, the cleanest structure is two Valencia classes per term across
three terms.
Before Starting Valencia Classes
Complete as many of the CLEP exams as possible, ideally all 42 credits.

Term 2
Term 3

- Easy Elective
Total Credit Summary
- CLEP Credits: 42
- Valencia Credits: 18
- Total A.A. Credits: 60
Important Notes
-
You still need to satisfy foreign language proficiency for the A.A. If high school
foreign language already covers it, great. If not, that issue has to be handled separately.
-
You still need to satisfy civic literacy.
-
CLEP credit does not create GPA the way regular coursework does, so your Valencia classes still matter
for maintaining a clean college GPA.
-
Before locking the schedule, it is smart to compare this against your degree audit or have Valencia confirm
exact placement of each CLEP and elective.
Best Final Version
If the goal is to get into BASBOL with the fewest heavier classes possible, this is the best version of the plan:
use CLEP for both macroeconomics and microeconomics, push business law, management, and marketing
into CLEP as well, and keep the Valencia side focused on communication, the required computer course, intro business,
SLS, and the easiest electives available.
Once you do all this, you can enroll into the Valencia BASBOL program and work towards your bachelors. All of these classes and CLEP exams should be available at Valencia (CLEP exams taken at UCF to my knowledge) and you may decide to go to law school after (I suggest FAMU Law.)
